On Dec 19, 2014, Haggen announced a major acquisition (pending FTC approval) that will expand Haggen from 18 stores to 164 stores. Twenty-five of these new Haggen locations will be located in San Diego County, six in North County.
Since 1933, Haggen has been a popular, privately-owned grocery store chain in the Pacific Northwest. They pride themselves for “supporting regional farms, ranches and fisheries, creating a lasting and sustainable local food economy” and becoming “deeply rooted in the communities it serves, providing support to local events and partnerships.”
Residents of San Marcos are already anxiously awaiting the new WinCo Foods grocery store at the old Lowes location (555 Grand Ave), so the added variety of a Haggen will be an extra bonus.
