Last week, San Marcos City Council unanimously voted in favor of a new parking violation fee schedule. The new fee schedule goes into effect on August 1, 2015.
To help determine the ‘going rate’ for the new fee schedule, San Marcos compared and averaged the fee schedule of Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, Vista and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Of the 36 different types of parking fines, a majority were raised (25), a handful were lowered (9), and 2 stayed the same.
The city expects that the new fee schedule will bring in $13,000 more revenue per year.
