Fallbrook will be hosting its annual signature event, the Avocado Festival, on Sunday, April 19 this year. This much anticipated festival celebrates the agricultural heritage of Fallbrook while providing an opportunity for entertainment, education, culture, food and fun. This is what sets the Avocado Festival apart from other street fairs in the area.
This celebration of Fallbrook as an agricultural community is visible in the museums, produce displays and the avocado-themed events sponsored throughout the day, as well as the wide variety of foods found all along the Festival streets. Held on Main Avenue and some adjacent side streets, visitors get the “small town America” feeling of Fallbrook while enjoying over 450 booths and many other attractions, including four food courts and some amazing avocado foods. Childrens’ contests include the Avo 500 Races, Best-Dressed Avocado, and the Little Miss and Mister Avocado Contest, and will take place at the Community Stage area on Main at Elder Street. Also taking place at the Community Stage is the Guacamole Contest (Professional and Amateur categories), with the creativity being judged by local “celebrities.” Local talent and entertainment performs on the Community Stage throughout the day in addition to the contests.
New this year is Avocado Central, located right in the middle of it all, at Main and Alvarado Streets. Here you can learn about the many avocado varieties, and even purchase the plants to grow at home. This is a must-visit for the true avocado fan.
Another new addition is the Artisan Walk on Alvarado, a block-long venue of local artisans displaying their creations, as well as a few demonstrations. We encourage a side trip up Alvarado to visit these artisans and enjoy their offerings.
A shaded beer garden hosts all-day music provided by a live band, and a place to sit and relax a little while. There will also be a Kids Carnival area that will be held in the Joe’s Hardware parking lot, complete with rides and games. Free parking, shuttles and admission help make this a fun and entertaining family outing. We invite you to our Friendly Village on Sunday, April 19, to enjoy the Avocado Festival with us. See you there!
