Shir Energy Music Festival in Cardiff 4/19

Shir Energy Music Fest is a multi-generational music and cultural event, whose purpose is to bring together community, celebrate art, inspire one another and uplift the human spirit.

From our youngest children in the preschool to our high school youth groups, bands, drum circles, and choirs, music is at the heart of this community. Our hope is that the music of Temple Solel leaves you uplifted spiritually.

Knowing that music can breathe life into our souls and nurture our relationships with one another, we bring to you an exciting creation, the Shir Energy Music Fest, to celebrate and elevate our community.

Shir Energy Music Festival Performers:

Matisyahu (Unplugged)
Known for blending traditional Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip hop sounds, Matisyahu is most recognizable for being an orthodox Jew and writing a number of songs based on his faith and beliefs. Since 2004, he has released four studio albums as well as one live album, two remix CDs and one DVD featuring a live concert. Through his career, Matisyahu has teamed up with some of the biggest names in reggae production including Bill Laswell and duo Sly & Robbie.

Casey Abrams
24-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and American Idol finalist Casey Abrams’ story is that of a born natural. The walls of Casey’s childhood home resonated with, “the music of the 1950s and ‘60s,” he states. Even then, he was “hearing those blues riffs and little things that make a song what it is.” The incredible exposure to the entire range of timeless popular music had an intense influence on Casey’s development. He waxes rhapsodically about jazz icons like Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk and “the one song that really changed me: Cannonball Adderley’s version of ‘Autumn Leaves,’ Miles plays on it.”

ShirLaLa
is a New York based performer and music educator. Traveling across the country and internationally, ShirLaLa delivers a dynamic, interactive program of joy and spirit, story and song. Raised in the world of music and the tradition of Torah, ShirLaLa works with communities to enliven rituals, holiday celebrations, and love for Jewish life and prayer. Words, story and music are blended into a rich musical experience for children and adults alike.

Two time Juno Nominated Jaffa Road is one of Canada’s most exciting and innovative world music bands. Listeners experience original and ancient poetry in Hebrew, English and Spanish intertwined with electrifying improvisations, belly-dance rhythms, and pulsing dub grooves. Jaffa Road is made up of Toronto’s most exciting and virtuosic players of boundary breaking music.
